Libby Privett To Play For Alabama All-Stars vs. Mississippi All-Stars

MADISON- Twenty-four high school seniors have been selected to represent Alabama in the 32nd annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Basketball Classic to be played Saturday, March 12 at Mississippi College in Hinds, Miss. Twelve boys and 12 girls were chosen to play for Alabama with Madison Academy’s Libby Privett chosen as one of Alabama’s dynamic dozen.

The 5-foot-7 guard for the Lady Mustangs has been on the varsity squad for six years including the 2020 team that lost in the Class 5A State Championship game to Charles Henderson 50-48 and one season earlier in 2019 when the Lady Mustangs fell to Central Tuscaloosa 68-65. She was a young player for the Mustangs in 2017 when Madison Academy won the Class 4A State Championship

“Her inner drive and competitive heart is going to take her far at the next level and in life,” said Krista Baldwin head coach of Madison Academy. “She has had some incredible success as a Lady Mustang in the stat column and post accolades, but her approach to life and the tasks at hand make her stand out.”

Privett was a Third-Team All-State selection in 2021, but suffered an ACL injury last summer, which required surgery and put her on the sideline for most of the 2021-2022 season. She was not on the court until the final eight games of the campaign, but still was regarded as one of the finest players in the state. She signed a college scholarship to attend Wofford College.

“Our younger players got to see someone take an unfavorable situation and find solutions through hard work and it wasn’t easy for her,” said Baldwin. “I got to see first-hand the pain and emotions she fought through. Her hard work, dedication and reliance on the Lord brought her back just in time for Senior Night.”

Alabama’s girls won last year’s game over Mississippi 102-70 while the Bama boys dropped a 93-91 thriller to Mississippi. Alabama holds a 17-14 edge on the girl’s series while the boys hold a slim 16-15 lead.
