WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: Shooting in Triana leaves one dead, one seriously injured

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says investigators are still piecing together what led to a shooting in Triana Tuesday afternoon that left one man dead and a woman wounded.
Late yesterday afternoon, deputies were dispatched to a home on Ervin Lane following a 911 call. According to the MCSO, when deputies arrived they found 47-year-old Jaycen Tori Ervin, suffering from numerous gunshot wounds to his body. Ervin was pronounced dead at the scene. A female that was present at the residence was shot but was able to flee the area where deputies located her a short distance away with non-life-threatening wounds. She was transported to Huntsville Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

    Previous story:

TRIANA – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is investigating a fatal shooting in Triana this afternoon. The Sheriff’s Office said one person was killed and another is seriously injured following a shooting on Tuesday.

“At approximately 3:15 pm today units responded to the area of Ervin Lane and the scene has been secured,” a post by the MCSO stated. “Two subjects have been shot with one fatality being reported. CSI and CID are on the scene. We will provide further details when possible.”

Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (HEMSI) and officials with the Triana Police Department  also responded to the shooting.

According to Don Webster with HEMSI, one of the victims was picked up at Record Road and transported to Huntsville Hospital in serious but stable condition. While the other victim was found on Ervin Lane.

The MCSO asks everyone to avoid this area as the scene is still active.
