Brooms, mops in Lions Club sale to raise funds for vision projects

MADISON — Madison Area Lions Club hopes to ‘clean up’ with its current fundraiser.

“The sale of the mops and brooms will provide funds to support the club’s vision efforts,” Lions President LaToya Dorsey said. “We hope the community will support our community vision efforts by buying a mop or broom.”

Madison Lions Club’s established “Vision for Learning” that provides an eye exam and eyeglasses to Madison City Schools students who can’t afford the services. Lions supply a similar service for the elderly with Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments or TARCOG.

Club members recently performed eye screening at Midtown Elementary School and Village of Promise. “We’re proud of members’ work to support these efforts,” Dorsey said.

“The sale of mops and brooms will help fund these programs,” Program Coordinator Luke Hunter said. “The mops and broom are high quality and made by O’Cedar.”

Several styles are available from household brooms and mops to large push brooms. Hopefully, local businesses will fill their cleaning needs through Lions Club, Hunter said.

Brooms range in price from $12 to $22. Mops sale for $7 or $11. To buy a mop or broom, email Hunter at MadisonLionsMB@gmail.com.

Madison Area Family Lions Club welcomes new members. Club members meet monthly on second Tuesdays at Ted’s BBQ, 8780 Madison Blvd. at 6:30 p.m.
