Theatre Huntsville to present “A Christmas Story” starting Nov. 11

Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father winning a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in a net stocking; Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios and more. “A Christmas Story” is destined to become a Huntsville holiday perennial.

“A Christmas Story” is directed by Jessica Alexander-Bradley assisted by Nora Hixon. The cast includes Ryan French as Ralphie Parker, his brother Daniel French as Randy Parker, their father David French as Ralph Parker, Buzz Willis as Flick, Cillian Stanford as Schwartz, Rylee Jae Howell as Esther Jane, Coyrn Grace Miller as Helen, Lilian Aguilar as Scut Farkas, Ben Stone as The Old Man, Shea-Lynn Imler as Mother, and Gena Rawdon as Miss Shields. The crew includes Stage Manager Leslie Gates, Technical Director/Scenic Designer/ Kenny Paone, Assistant Technical Director Mirji Campolongo, Costume Designer Pam Anders, Lighting Designer Bakari Prigg, and Sound Engineer Al Gilbert.

The show will run two weekends: November 11-13 and 17-20 at the Von Braun Center (VBC) Playhouse. Tickets may be purchased online at THTix.com, at the Theatre Huntsville box office at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment (Wednesday through Saturday, 12-6 p.m.), or by calling (256) 536-0807.
