Branch Manager Katie Moore welcomes all to library

MADISON – After accepting the job position in June 2022, Katie Moore is enjoying and suited for her work as Branch Manager of Madison Public Library.

“Madison Public Library is the busiest branch in the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library system. I am honored to work for a library which is so well-loved by its community,” Moore said. “I’m excited to continue providing excellent library service to the residents of Madison.”

In February 2021, Moore started working for HMCPL as Branch Manager of Triana Public Library.

Her previous jobs included Novi Public Library, Head of Specialized Services, Novi, Mich., three years; West Bloomfield Township Public Library, Branch Manager, West Bloomfield, Mich., two years; and Ransom District Library, Library Director, Plainwell, Mich., nine years.

“I want every visitor to have an excellent experience at the library, and I empower the library staff to do everything they can to make that happen,” Moore said.

As many people believe, Moore thinks the library offers something for everyone. “We offer an amazing collection of materials; entertaining and educational programs; meeting space; business services including faxing, copying and notarization; incredible Makerspace; and a relaxing atmosphere for work or studying,” she said.

Moore appreciates HMCPL’s hard work to offer patron-friendly policies and procedures, like automatic renewals, free Wi-Fi hotspots and elimination of overdue fines.

A good day for Moore involves “seeing the library staff providing excellent service, whether that’s making great book recommendations, helping patrons with technology or just making visitors feel welcome.”

Moore’s hometown is Battle Creek, Mich. Her education includes a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and a master’s degree in library and information science both from the University of Michigan.

The Moore family moved to Madison in 2014 for Erin Moore’s job as an aerospace engineer. Erin and Katie’s children are daughter Leah, a college student; son Race, an eighth-grader; and daughter Betsy, a fourth-grader.

Katie likes to read, garden, sew and spend time with her children.
