Heritage Church to host annual County Line Road Concert Series Sept. 8

MADISON – Kids running around together, families enjoying music outside, people meeting for the first time — this is the vision of community that Suzanne Katschke, one of the lead pastors at Heritage Church, hopes to see come to fruition at the upcoming County Line Road Concert Series.
The annual, free concert, sponsored by Heritage Church, returns for its sixth year from 4–8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8 at Heritage Park, 29768 Huntsville Brownsferry Road.

The beloved event will look slightly different than in past years. The County Line Road Concert Series has previously taken place across multiple weeks, with one musical act performing each Sunday for a month. This year, four different acts will all perform on the same day.

The musicians include Mike Cole; Winslow Davis; Chelsea, Who?; and Remy Neal, who also performed for last year’s series. All acts are seasoned local performers and draw from a variety of genres. From blues and southern rock, to R&B and pop, Katschke emphasized the diversity of sound attendees can expect to hear.

“This year, I was very intentional about genres to make sure that we’re doing a lot of different genres,” Katschke said. “That way, I believe there’s something for everybody in this musical line-up. They only each play 50 minutes … so if you don’t like this person, hang on, because there’s a person that you might like next.”

Aside from the live music, the event will once again host food trucks and children’s giveaways. Attendees can partake in food from Get Loaded and Sno Biz.

Overall, Katschke shared that Heritage Church wants to create a day of positivity and communal joy.

“Life is hard, and people often act like we’re in this terrible, cruel world, but when we get together as a community, we discover that people are really, really good,” she said. “So we like to provide opportunities for people just to be together and hang out. There’s a lot of pressure in this life, and this allows people just to relax and have a good time, and enjoy music, enjoy nature, and enjoy one another.”
The concert reflects the church’s vision of creating opportunities for people to meet and connect with each other. In addition to the concert series, it also hosts a youth developmental sports league for soccer, cheer and football. Seasonal festivities, such as the Boo Bash, also provide a moment for Madison locals to connect.
“Our church is a heart for the community, so we like to do things that serve the community, to be in relationship with the community,” Katschke said.
In this spirit of community, people are invited to bring their family, their lawn chairs and their pets to the County Line Concert Series. Katschke expressed excitement over the event’s ability to garner positivity within attendees’ day.

“[I hope they] walk away with a smile on their face,” she said. “I hope that they walk away feeling encouraged by the music because I think that music is powerful. Music has a way of touching our soul sometimes that words don’t. … So I just hope they walk away feeling happy and relaxed and ready to face another day.”
