Madison History Association to learn about ‘Hughes-Anderson Connection’

MADISON – The legacy of two prominent families in the community will be the topic for Madison History Association’s meeting.

The audience will learn about the “Hughes-Anderson Connection” on Sept. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Madison Public Library. Madison native Larry Anderson will discuss the lives of his relatives in fascinating stories about earlier Madison.

Anderson will share personal memories and interesting experiences dating from the 1950s. His maternal and paternal family were both multi-generation Madison families, which included the largest farming operations in the area, elected officials and civic/community leaders, association spokesperson Gilbert G. White III said.

“The Andersons were business owners in old downtown Madison for many years. Larry brings a unique prospective having experienced both Madison’s past and the continued growth of our city,” White said.

A meet-and-greet session with members of Madison History Association will start at 5:45 p.m. before the presentation at 6 p.m. “Bring a friend and join us,” White said. “The session is free to the public.”
