Bob Jones Esports with Aubree White ranked first in nation

MADISON – The Esports team at Bob Jones High School with Coach Aubree White has climbed to No. 1 nationally.

Esports is competitive video gaming that is team-based. The PlayVS company determined Bob Jones’ top rating. PlayVS was founded to promote access to Esports for all individuals at every skill level.

Following Bob Jones in first place are teams from New Mexico, Massachusetts, Colorado and Arizona. To reach its standing, Bob Jones succeeded in 15 Championship wins and five runner-up finishes.

Along with PlayVS, other organizations agree with Bob Jones’ excellence. “We did it! Bob Jones Esports is now officially ranked no. 1 in ‘USA Today’ for high school Esports programs,” White said.

“The levels that this program reaches make me feel like I am dreaming every day. I have paused and stopped to look around and listen often the last few weeks as we kick off this fall season in our very own Esports room on campus,” White said.

“To know where we started and see where we are today leaves me in awe. These kids are incredible,” White said. “They are great at what they do. They are proud of what we have.

Furthermore, the Bob Jones students see where they can still go. “I’m so proud as their coach to support them and do all that I can to take them towards whatever heights they’d like to reach,” White said.

“The grind doesn’t stop here. Keep watching us because we don’t plan on letting up anytime soon. Go Patriots,” White said.

Without a doubt, White has played a pivotal role in guiding the Bob Jones team to its top-level performances. This year, she was named “Alabama Esports Coach of the Year” and “PlayVS Coach of the Year.”

Coach White is a true powerhouse in the world of high school Esports. “With a passion for gaming fueling her journey, White founded the Esports program at Bob Jones in 2019, igniting a transformation that has seen the program soar to remarkable heights,” according to PlayVS.

During its seasons, Bob Jones Esports team has played League of Legends, Rocket League, Madden, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Splatoon 3, Mario Kart, NBA 2K, Overwatch 2, Valorant, Street Fighter 6 and Online Chess. “This is an incredible opportunity for students to be a part of something at Bob Jones while gaining valuable skills and exposure to college Esports options,” White said.

At Bob Jones, White teaches English 9, English 10 and Reading Lab.
