New Huntsville supergroup to release first EP, celebrate with launch party Oct. 25

HUNTSVILLE – A new supergroup has arrived on the Huntsville music scene bringing three local artists together and is set to release their first EP on Friday, Oct. 25.

Dweeby is the collaboration of Jerome Villareal of the Them Damn Dogs, Wanda Wesolowski of The Wanda Band, and Aaron Anderson of King Jeans. The three started as neighbors but during the COVID-19 pandemic, morphed into jam session friends. They soon started to collaborate in professional capacities, creating a music video for Villareal’s band Them Damn Dogs and performing at Sluice Fest 2021 and house shows.

While performing shows together, the three decided they needed to write more songs to perform. From there, writing songs turned into writing a whole EP.

“We needed to fill in for time so we played a few songs and thought we should write more songs and get an EP or something started,” said Villareal. “It’s been really cool working with talented songwriters like Wanda and Aaron because they are seasoned musicians like me with interesting styles and creative melodies. I look up to them so much and I think we all look up to each other really. If we have a song or part of a song that has something special, we recognize it and give it the proper care to craft it into an experience we’re fond of.”

Dweeby is the collaboration of Jerome Villareal of the Them Damn Dogs, Wanda Wesolowski of The Wanda Band, and Aaron Anderson of King Jeans.

and Anderson have poured that care into their first EP titled The Dweepee. The EP is a healthy mix of genres and styles, including power pop, indie, grunge, post-punk, and acoustic, and even within songs, the band blends different genres.

“We’re a little all over the place and have a real eclectic sound. You can’t really pinpoint what sort of genre we have because it changes drastically especially on our EP, The Dweepee. We’ve been saying we’re “multi-genre” or “post-genre,” described Villareal.

The band ventured to Clearwave Recording Studios in Decatur to record The Dweepee. They worked with producer Jeremy Stephens and musician Joe Canada of Camacho to bring the album to life and add unique twists, like replicating a rowdy bar for background noise and featuring Canada on accordion and organ.

Two singles have already been released that preview the trio’s musical talent, “I’m Just Sayin’” and “Barricade Disaster”. The full EP will be released Friday, Oct. 25.

Villareal, Wesolowski, and Anderson are celebrating the release with a launch party at the Boardman house, and the public is invited to join. Dweeby will be performing the EP live and will be joined by a few special guest performers. The party starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door, and each person will receive a signed CD of The Dweepee.
