Try a strudel at Messiah Lutheran Church’s German Food Fest on Nov. 2

MADISON – Traditional tastes of the cuisine of Germany will be the focus of the third annual German Food Fest at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7740 U.S. 72 W. (just east of the Hughes Road intersection).

Messiah’s congregation invites residents to experience the food fest on Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free to attend. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

This year’s event will feature food specials and German beer from The Casual Pint at 2 Off Broadway St. NW in Huntsville. The eatery will sell authentic choices, like bratwurst and pretzels.

Traditional baked goods will feature German cakes; cookies, especially Linzer and spritz cookies; and ‘oodles of strudel.’

Guests will enjoy live music as they browse the delicious options. Members will conduct a quilt sale. In the Kids Zone, which is free, children can enjoy kids’ bounce house and a bubble garden.

For the past two years, Messiah Lutheran has welcomed hundreds of visitors to the food fest.

Event proceeds from the German Food Fest will benefit Shepherd’s Fold, one of the few remaining re-entry programs for men in Alabama with transitional housing and supportive services. Contributions at the food fest will help Messiah Lutheran to cover expenses and thus allow a larger share of proceeds to Shepherd’s Fold.

Shepherd’s Fold is a transition home designed to address the needs of men at risk of incarceration or recidivism. The six-month program is designed to provide opportunities that support successful transformations, from the inside out, to empower, strengthen and create productive, contributing members of society.

Messiah Lutheran provides assessments, intervention and oversight with community partners to ensure top quality care and end results. For more information, call 256-721-0041 or visit mlutheran. org or Facebook/Messiah Luther Church, Madison AL.
