JC and BJ runners qualify for Nov. 9 state cross country meet at Oakville Indian Mounds Park

MADISON – Both the Bob Jones and James Clemens cross country teams have qualified for the Nov. 9 State Cross Country Meet after finishing among the top four teams in the Class 7A Section 4 Meet held at John Hunt Running Park in Huntsville. On the individual efforts, James Clemens came away the winners in both boys and girls with Luke Alverson and Kylie Gero taking first place spots in their divisions.

The overall team scores were, Boys: 1. Huntsville 24, 2. Florence 78, 3. Bob Jones 90, 4. James Clemens 101; Girls: 1.Huntsville 21, 2. James Clemens 67, 3. Bob Jones 69, 4. Florence 120.

For James Clemens, both squads qualified for the State Meet for the seventh year in a row. The Jets were led by nationally ranked Alverson who the overall event with a time of 15:53.04 while fellow senior Kylie Gero took top honors in girls with a finish time of 18:58.03.

The top 15 runners were named to the All-Section Team. Here are the final results: Boys: 1. Luke Alverson, Sr., James Clemens, 15:53.04, 6. J.D. Wine, Sr., Sparkman, 16:35.23, 9. Andrew Gohlich, Sr., James Clemens, 14:44.27, 14. Reed Perry, So., Sparkman, 17:19.21; Girls: 1. Kylie Gero, Sr., James Clemens, 18:58.03, 6. Ella carter, Jr., James Clemens, 20:04.11, 8. Holly Halter, Sr., Bob Jones, 20:10.63, 10. Ami Marks, So., Bob Jones, 20:15.10, 12. Claire Colo, Jr., James Clemens, 20:33.26, 14. Sarah Allison, Fr., Bob Jones, 20:47.48.

The remaining runners from James Clemens to make the State Meet were Girls: 24. Brooke Bogardus 22:17, 31. Molly Herndon 22:56, 32. Evrette Ragus 23:12, 44. Alissa Ferrara 24:22, 50. Rose Polpanich 25:00, 58. Penelope Meadows 25:22 and 59. Claire Couch 25:30.31; Boys: 32. Michael Class 18:15, 33. Luke Bogardus 18:18, 35. Nathan Maehlmann 18.22, 36. Cooper Tyler 18:25, 47. Hudson Parker 19:13, 48. Robson Chambless 19:23, 53. Brennan Ragsdale 19:57 and 56. Liam Meadows 20.06.

The State Meet will be held at Oakville Indian Mounds Park in Moulton.
