Local cheer squads named top teams in North Super Regional

MADISON – Local schools were well represented at the AHSAA North Super Regional Cheer competition with local schools performing well and achieved advancement to the AHSAA State Meet Nov. 19-20 in Birmingham.

Each of the four high school programs and two middle school squads performed to near perfection at the event held at the CrossPlex in the Magic City of Birmingham. Bob Jones, James Clemens, Sparkman and Madison Academy each grabbed spots for the State meet while both Discovery and Monrovia Middle School teams strutted their stuff at the annual regional event.

Each school’s performance:

• Bob Jones: 1. Class 7A Varsity Game-Day;

• James Clemens: 1. Class 7A Varsity, 2. Class 7A Varsity Game-Day;

• Sparkman: 2. Class 7A Varsity, 5.

Class 7A Varsity Game-Day, 1. Class 7A Junior Varsity Co-Ed, 5. Class 7A Junior Varsity Game-Day;

• Madison Academy: 7. Class 3A Varsity Game Day;

• Monrovia: 1. Junior High-Small;

• Discovery: 2. Junior High Game Day Small.
