New Costco at Clift Farm opens with huge turnout

MADISON – The new Costco in Madison County just outside of the city of Madison opened Friday with a ribbon cutting from the Madison Chamber of Commerce and lines of expectant members.

“It is truly a historic day here in Madison County and the city of Madison and Huntsville, opening a Costco on Highway 72. I know as residents of Huntsville and Madison and Madison County, we are so thrilled to call an organization part of the community,” said Madison Chamber of Commerce President Michelle Epling.

The new Costco location is an official member of the Madison Chamber of Commerce and was presented a plaque declaring their membership.

“This is an exciting day for our community, for our county, for this area, and you can see from the turn out, peo- ple getting ready to get their Costco card, get in line to get in the store, this is going to be a big economic project,” said Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon.

County officials say the tax dollars from the new Costco will support county roads and schools.

“I just want to say thank you to Costco for showing confidence coming into Madison County,” said District 4 Commissioner Phil Vandiver. “[We] appreciate you for the money, the taxes, and all this will help, especially for our school systems.”

In honor of the grand opening, the wholesale club is having specials on their yearly memberships. Newly purchased Executive memberships will receive a $40 Costco gift card and newly purchased Gold Star memberships will receive a $20 Costco gift card.

This is the second Costco location in Madison County, and it is located at 8094 Highway 72 West. It includes a food court, liquor store, gas station, optical, pharmacy, and tire service center.
