Former Madison superintendent to lead Lindsay Lane Christian Academy

ATHENS – Robby Parker has accepted the position of Head of School at Lindsay Lane Christian Academy in Athens.

Parker will start his work at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Parker will succeed Steve Murr, who will step down after 12 years of service.

Parker has been working as Upper School Principal at Whitesburg Christian Academy in Huntsville. Since 2020, he has implemented significant advancements, including advanced-placement or AP courses, American College Test or ACT preparation, health science electives, senior internships and progress in athletics.

Parker’s leadership has resulted consistently in 100-percent college matriculation. Whitesburg has upheld a focus on confirming each student completes at least one college-level course during high school.

Before working in private education, Parker served 31 years with Madison City Schools. At Bob Jones High School, he worked as a history teacher, coach and assistant principal; he served as Principal at Bob Jones for 10 years. He also was Discovery Middle School’s Principal for three years.

Parker moved to the MCS Central Office in 2015 as Assistant Superintendent. In 2017, he was selected as MCS Superintendent.

During his time as superintendent, MCS earned “A” ratings on state-issued Report Cards each year and was recognized as Alabama’s top producer of National Merit Semifinalists.

Parker earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Samford University and a master’s degree in administration from the University of North Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama’s Superintendents’ Academy. He was named 2014 Alabama PTA Principal of the Year and the 2019-2020 Outstanding Superintendent by the Alabama Parent Teacher Association or PTA.

Along with professional accomplishments, Parker is an athlete and demonstrates his commitment to strong faith. He and his wife, Anita, have been married for 37 years and have two adult children, Tyson and Seth, along with five grandchildren.
