VFW, Post 5162 to honor Gold Star families at Dublin Park

MADISON – Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5162 will honor a special set of individuals at its “Gold Star Families and Veterans — Fellowship and Food Drive.”

The City of Madison and VFW Post 5162 are hosting the event on March 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The session will be held at Dublin Park, 8324 Old Madison Pike in Madison.

A Gold Star family is one who has lost one or more close relatives who were in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The fellowship time will offer several different activities to benefit members and visitors. In the area of veteran and family services, the Veteran Services Officer will attend the session. Points of contact will be available to discuss financial planning and as- sistance opportunities for veterans, along with an introduction to the area’s veteran organizations.

Organizers also have scheduled options to promote health and well-being. Individuals can take advantage of sessions in massage therapy. Yoga and strength training will be options for physical and mental health.

In addition, attendees can enjoy possibilities in arts and crafts. Discussions related to personal care will be presented.

To add to the upbeat atmosphere, people attending the fellowship time will be eligible to receive door prizes. Food trucks will be onsite to sell snacks, meals and beverages. And don’t forget the ‘bouncey houses’ for entertainment for children who attend.

Guests are not required to register. However, post members will greatly appreciate everyone taking time for registration, which will help organizers with their planning. To access registration forms online, visit Facebook. com/VFW5162 to use the QR code.

Anyone who wants to participate as a vendor or has any questions can email Tammy Johnson at docj45@hotmail.com with “Fellowship” in the “Subject” line.

VFW Post 5162 conducts monthly meetings on third Tuesdays at Dublin Park at 6 p.m. The post’s next meeting will be March 18. For more information, email commander@ vfwpost5162.com, or
