Chamber needs nominations for ‘Military Family of the Year’
Alice and Steve Lessman of Signalink presented the Berger family as last year’s Military Family of the Year. Colonel Steven Berger has served the country in various capacities from Headquarters Battalion Commander First Corps in Kabul, Afghanistan to Commander Area Support Group Kuwait. Colonel Berger, his wife, and three daughters are active volunteers at Heritage Elementary, where Colonel Berger founded the All Pro Dad Chapter to support the school’s fathers in leading their families.

Chamber needs nominations for ‘Military Family of the Year’

MADISON – Madison Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents to identify a family who has upheld a strong commitment to country and community.

The chamber is accepting nominations for “Military Family of the Year” for 2025. The winning family will be announced at the annual Celebrate Madison event on Oct. 23 in Town Madison at Toyota Field.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. After Mayor Paul Finley’s presentation, the audience can enjoy a fireworks show.

Signalink Inc. will present the award to the deserving military family. Signalink delivers innovative engineering, technical, logistical and programmatic support to the aerospace and defense communities. Steve Lessmann is the business’ official founder; Alice Lessmann has worked in most executive levels in the Madison business.

The nominating phase is now open, and residents can nominate a deserving household by completing the “Military Family of the Year” application. Consider the following criteria while completing the application:  Does the family actively participate in local events or support community initiatives?

• How does the family support fellow military members, veterans or military-related organizations? Is the nominated family involved in any mentorship or advocacy programs that assist military families?
