Need a ride? Senior center offers transportation

MADISON – To fulfill a crucial need for senior citizens, the City of Madison if offering transportation service by bus to and from Madison Senior Center.

Center members who satisfy a few requirements for eligibility will receive free, round-trip bus rides to 1329 Brown’s Ferry Road. (The senior center is located in Madison Community Center.)

Individuals who live in the city limits of Madison and who are 50 years old and older are eligible for transportation. The bus will be available to members on Monday through Friday and will arrive at Madison Senior Center between 8 and 9 a.m.

The bus will have two departure times from the center: 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in the service must complete an application, “Bus Transportation Request Form.” The application is available online at madisonal. gov/Senior-Center, by calling 256-692-6836 or visiting the center.

After completing the request form, submit it to madisonal.gov/DocumentCenter/ View/18500/ MSC-Transportation-Form-Electronic-Fillable? bidId=.

Individuals who live outside Madison’s city limits can pursue options for alternative transportation to Madison Senior Center:

• Transportation for Rural Areas of Madison County or TRAM — Street address is 819 Cook Ave., Suite 137 in Huntsville. Individuals must buy a ticket (at a nominal charge). 256-532-3792, tram@madisoncountyal. gov.

• Enable Madison County — Formerly named Care Assurance System for the Aging of Madison County or CASA of Madison County. Enable Madison County accepts a helping hand with projects to help the homebound to provide safety and independence for clients. 256-533-7775, enablemadisoncounty. org.

• Friends Inc. – Offers various options for help to seriously ill and disabled patients and assists them in coping with new circumstances and maintaining independence. 256-534-4079, friendsinc. net.

• Elder Ride – 7519 Wall Triana, Madison AL 35757. 256-890-7433.

• Created 2 Care – This company provides non-emergency medical transportation and delivery of medical supplies. Located in Huntsville. 256945-3006, created2care.org.
