Candice Keith’s positivity leads to Madison Hospital’s employee of the month award
MADISON – Candice Keith consistently treats everyone with kindness – no matter the circumstances. Madison Hospital has recognized Keith as “Employee of the Month” for July 2025.
Keith, a Registered Nurse, works in the Emergency Department.
“Candice is always willing to help out . . . whether to orient a student, new hire or help coworkers,” according to Keith’s nomination form that a co-worker submitted. “Candice always has a smile. Not only do coworkers appreciate this, but so do the patients.”
Patients smile when talking about Candice and say that she has been wonderful to them, the nomination stated. Candice helps bring peace to stressful situations for patients.
“I truly look up to Candice as a nurse. She is a wonderful nurse, mother, friend and an overall delight to be around,” the nomination stated.
“As a new nurse looking for a job, I chose Madison Hospital because I felt it would be a great place to grow and learn,” Keith said. “Since being here, I’ve chosen to stay because of the friendly, professional and caring environment.”
“Madison Hospital has helped me grow both as a nurse and as a person. (Employees) truly live by their motto: ‘Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Caring,’” Keith said.
Learning about her award, Keith’s first reaction was, “’I can’t believe it’s me!’ Then I felt honored and overjoyed that my coworkers, patients and others around me thought so highly of me.”
“When you work hard, it’s incredibly meaningful to know it’s noticed. Recognition like this makes every sacrifice worth it,” Keith said.
Her favorite component in working as a nurse is service. “It’s a selfless word, and, in the ER, we often meet people on one of the worst days of their lives. Being able to serve them and meet their needs brings me joy.”
“Knowing I contributed in some way makes my heart smile. In these critical and emotional moments, service is what carries us,” Keith said. “No matter what’s happening in our own lives, my coworkers and I show up to serve our patients and their families gladly . . . and with a smile.”
Keith has a good day when she knows she has done everything possible to save someone’s life and succeeds. “There’s no feeling like it. Being able to share good news with their loved ones is the reason we do what we do,” she said.
In her first job, Keith has worked in Madison Hospital’s Emergency Department for four years.
“I’m newly married to Brenton Capers, and we have a beautiful daughter named Joycelyn Capers,” Keith said. “We live in Madison.”
In her free time, Keith enjoys all types of crafts and loves sports. “I’m a proud, new T-ball mom and a diehard Alabama fan — Roll Tide!” she said.
