VBC 5K Music Run set for August 30

HUNTSVILLE- The tunes will rock and the feet dash come Saturday, Aug. 30 as the 5K Music Run will be held in downtown Huntsville with the start at 8:00 a.m. on Monroe Street in front of the Von Braun Center. In conjunction with the Von Braun Center, celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the Huntsville Music Office, the fun event combines culture and cardio as runners will make their way through downtown Huntsville to the sound of live music performances along the route.

“This race is a celebration of everything the VBC stands for, bringing people together through live experiences,” said Samantha Nielsen, Director of Marketing & PR at the Von Braun Center. “The 5K Music Run is high energy, it’s local, and it’s the perfect way to launch Huntsville Music Month with the support of our incredible music community.”

Music Lineup Presented by the Huntsville Music Office: Starting Line: Brandon Elder Route Performance: Karmessa Padgett with Band

Route Performance: Charles & Tanya Harris

Route Performance: Josh Allison Finish Line After Party ( Mars Music Hall): JUICE the Band “We’re proud to run-racesprint into Huntsville Music Month with this dynamic, community- powered event,” said Matt Mandrella, Huntsville’s Music Officer. “The VBC has been a cultural cornerstone for 50 years, and bringing music out of the venue and into the streets is a perfect way to honor that legacy and rally excitement for the future of music in Huntsville.”

This year’s runner-approved route, designed with help from Fleet Feet Huntsville, is a 5K (3.1 miles) winding through downtown’s vibrant streets. Runners will enjoy a mix of urban scenery, live background music at three locations on the course, and a photo-ready finish at Mars Music Hall.

Registration is available at Run-Signup.com. Race fee is $35, with registration fees added. Online registration closes Wednesday, Aug. 27. Each participant who registers will receive a commemorative 2025 race medal and an official race T-shirt. Last year’s inaugural race was a sell out, so early registration is strongly encouraged.

Year two of the VBC 5K Music Run will include a celebration that will be louder and longer, and more musical than a year ago.

Whether someone is a dedicated runner, a casual walker, or simply a fan of Huntsville’s vibrant live music scene, the VBC 5K Music Run is a joyful collision of art, community, and movement, setting the tempo for Huntsville Music Month 2025. Race organizers look forward to hosting a great community event as residents run in rhythm and celebrate 50 years of music, memories, and momentum at the VBC.
