“Shoot Like A Girl” set for Bass Pro Shops in Huntsville

MADISON – First launched in 2009, the Shoot Like A Girl mobile range will make a stop in its original hometown in Huntsville- Madison at Bass Pro Shops Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2728.

This interactive event aims to introduce women, along with their families and friends, to the world of shooting sports in a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment. With gun sales reaching unprecedented levels in recent years, the importance of firearm safety education for gun owners and their families cannot be overstated. Shoot Like A Girl recognizes this need and is committed to providing valuable safety lessons and messages directly to the public. The program addressees both guns and archery sports.

The Shoot Like A Girl trailer, located in front of Bass Pro Shops, will offer a range of activities and opportunities for attendees. Certified female instructors will be on hand to share their expertise and passion for shooting sports, the great outdoors and firearm education. Participants of all experience levels are welcome, and no prior knowledge is necessary to participate in this free event. All necessary equipment will be provided to guests upon arrival.

Inside the range, individuals aged 18 and above will have the chance to handle and shoot handguns and long guns using a military-grade firearm simulator. This cutting-edge technology provides immediate recoil, impact and sound feedback, creating a realistic shooting experience. Additionally, archery coaches will be available to assist guests with shooting bows, ensuring a well-rounded and exciting experience for all. Shoot Like A Girl instructors also offer safety talks for children and teens under 18.

Outside of the range, attendees can explore the Shoot Like A Girl gun bar, where a variety of firearms, including revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and rifles, will be available for comparison. The event will also feature products from corporate partners, such as optics, concealed carry handbags, holsters, camouflage, pepper spray and more.

Founded by Karen Butler, retired 22-year veteran of working for the U.S. Army as part of the Army Material Command, who first started shooting a bow 25 years ago, Shoot Like-Girl provides women the experience of shooting at events like the one this weekend in the program’s iconic semi-tractor trailer. Behind Butler’s love for the sports and wanting other women to be able to join in the fun, while living in the immediate Huntsville-Madison area came up with the idea of helping others as she enjoys the competitive and recreational shooting and is an avid hunter. She is the recipient of the NRA Women Golden Bullseye Award for Woman of the Year.

Shoot Like A Girl will be open Saturday, Sept. 27 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 28 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and is free to participants.
