Senators suffer loss after string of recent wins

HARVEST – Sparkman boys basketball took a devastating loss to Hoover High School last week on Dec. 4. The final score was 6748 with Sparkman not quite being able to catch up in the fourth quarter.

The team was coming off of a winning streak against Florence, Athens and East Limestone, and they were hyped up and ready to take on Hoover. The energy in the gym and within the team was hopeful, and the Senators were eager to prove themselves against a powerhouse program like Hoover. Over the past few years, the teams have gone back and forth trading wins and keeping the temperature high. Unfortunately Hoover’s offense was unstoppable on the court and Sparkman struggled to keep up.

Junior Jeremiah Garner had a great game, Garner was one of the top scorers with 13 points by the final buzzer. His ability to move past the defense and create opportunities kept Sparkman competitive through the early quarters. “I feel even though it we lost, it was a good experience that allowed us to see the level we need to compete at for the championship,” Garner said Sparkman will learn from this loss as they prepare for their upcoming games next week. With the talent they’ve displayed so far this season, it’s clear the Senators will be able to bounce back stronger than ever and continue building on their early-season success.
