FCA nears year’s end while celebrating

MADISON- The Northeast Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has had 21 years of causes to celebrate, thanks mostly to volunteers who give their time to assure today’s youth have the opportunities to share the messages of their Faith in the confines of local schools and support of the athletic teams that are also a big part of the FCA work. As the 2025 year-end approaches, the organization, which can serve 114,740 students in grades K-12, is busy working with the youth of North Alabama, including Madison, and looking to reach its goal of a working financial budget of $450,000 by receiving donations from individuals and businesses.

Recent months have been showcased by High School Huddles on school campuses as students were seen digging deep into the FCA Core Values while sharing their testimony, practicing key spiritual disciplines and growing through the gatherings with other students. The month of September was especially powerful as students united across campuses for See You at the Pole, lifting their schools and communities in prayer. October was featured as the time for the Fields of Faith, where students boldly challenge one another to stay rooted in God’s word and the areas FCA strongly believes in. The FCA describes the current generation as “disciples who are making disciples.”

On the college front, the FCA UAH Leadership Team is energized and ready to make an impact on the campus located in West Huntsville. The Leadership Team’s first huddle united athletes from five different teams, and they quickly jumped in by planning and hosting an outreach kickball tournament to keep the momentum going.

With a new year just another page turn on the calendar, a look back at 2025 showed the FCA was in full swing throughout North Alabama and throughout the year. The FCA is made up five full-time and 19 part-time missionaries along with 50-60 high school/college student interns, who assist mostly during the summer months, each of whom have memorable moments during 2025 FCA programs and events. Here are just a sampling of how the students within the five county area of North Alabama were drown to a stronger Faith: Area Director, Angie Burnett- “The highlight of the Iron Bowl Prayer Breakfast was seeing so many middle schoolers show up and knowing their parents not only brought them, but stayed to be a part of the morning as well.”

Area Director, Amy Thaxton- “The Fields of Faith was incredible to watch students step up, share their faith and encourage one another. This student-led event gives them the space to speak boldly, lift up each other and point their peers to God’s Word.”

Teacher, Coach & Ambassador, Richie Penn- Shared thoughts at some of his school’s Field of Faith events; “West Point High held its first-ever Fields of Faith in October and it was inspiring to see students come together for a special student-led worship and prayer as faith and fellowship took center stage. Appalachian High brought students, coaches and the community together to lift up the name of Jesus. Section High’s event was phenomenal as the stadium was packed, the crowd was electric and God’s presence was felt throughout. Albertville High’s event represented 12 different schools. Athletes shared testimonies, read Scripture, led worship and prayed, creating a powerful night of student-led ministry. Over 300 people attended to hear the Gospel shared by students.”

Administrative Assistant, Kandi Armstrong- “Camp season is my favorite. I am so thankful for FCA pouring into the hundreds of campers this past summer. What a blessing it is to be part of the NE AL FCA team.”

Area Representative, Sonya Carrier“Working with elementary and middle schools, I love that we get to help lay a firm foundation for children at such a young age, and that we get to meet them right where they are.”

College Ambassador/Summer Intern, Houston Hall- “Attending the High School PTL Conference in August I saw how connected we’ve become with each other and with Jesus where we’re at PLT. You can tell that the Spirt of God is dwelling in the room we were in.”

Marshall and Cullman County Administrative Assistant, Terri Huckabee“After the Holly Pond vs. Appalachian game, every player, coach and cheerleader from both teams came together on the field, united in one powerful moment of prayer.”

Area Representative, Lindsey Williams- “As a mom of a young boy, it was great seeing so many young boys investing in our newest Timothy Mission. This gives me so much hope for the future of my son. I’m praying that he grows just like all the others boys do.”

College Ambassador, Daniel Jacobs-He attended Randolph High for a special FCA event and said, “It’s inspiring to watch how they genuinely care for one another and invite all their friends to FCA. This is one of the largest huddles I’ve attended and you can truly see Christ shining through their joy and love for everyone who attends.” To assist with the FCA’s treks through North Alabama and influencing the young students of the area schools, visit the organization’s website: northalabamafca. org.
