City safety gets boost with new Public Safety Annex

MADISON – The city gained an invaluable asset in saving lives with the opening of the Public Safety Annex on Friday.

Located in the Town Madison district, “The 37,500-square-foot facility sits on 15 acres dedicated to public safety operations and brings police, fire, emergency management and information technology functions together on a single campus,” Bartlett said.

“This centralized approach strengthens communication, shortens response times and supports long-term planning as Madison continues to grow,” Bartlett said. “This facility brings critical public safety functions together in one centralized location, in- cluding the new Fire Station 4, a portion of Madison Police Department’s operations and the city’s IT Department.”

According to Madison Police Chief Johnny Gandy, “The campus layout also supports future community policing efforts. Shared space with the fire department and access to the joint training center further improves coordination and real-world training opportunities for our first responders.”

Madison Fire Chief Brandy Williams said the station adds critical coverage and improves response times. The facility offers “two apparatus bays, sleeping quarters for seven firefighters and dedicated areas for EMT and paramedic training.”

“The facility also houses Emergency Management and Fire Marshal’s Office, strengthening prevention, inspection and large-scale incident coordination,” Williams said. “We’re proud to expand our operations and serve the community in the southeast corridor of the city.”

The Public Safety Annex “is more than a building project; this is a commitment to our firefighters, police officers and residents,” Bartlett said.
