Madison Hospital named state’s newest dementia friendly hospital
MADISON – Dementia Friendly Alabama announced last week that Madison Hospital has officially earned the designation as Alabama’s newest Dementia Friendly Hospital. This recognition highlights the hospital’s commitment to enhancing care and support for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
As part of the initiative, Madison Hospital staff completed specialized dementia training focused on effective communication, compassionate interactions, and creating supportive, dementia-friendly environments throughout the hospital. The training equips the staff with the tools and knowledge needed to better serve people living with dementia, ensuring that their care experience is as comfortable and supportive as possible.
Madison Hospital joins a select group of only five hospitals in Alabama that have achieved this celebrated status. Dementia Friendly Alabama is dedicated to fostering communities where individuals living with dementia, their caregivers, and care partners can thrive with dignity and respect. The initiative is funded through a generous grant from the Alabama Department of Senior Services.
Dementia Friendly Alabama applauds Madison Hospital for its leadership in promoting compassionate care and enhancing the quality of life for those living with dementia across the state.
