Madison to hold “Spring Clean Up Day”, details America 250 events

MADISON – During the change in seasons, Madison is experiencing enhancements, observances and safety measures, and Mayor Ranae Bartlett is involved with the developments.

Bartlett encourages residents to take advantage of exceptionally good weather and engage in “Spring Clean Up Day” on April 25. She described the volunteer opportunity as “a simple but powerful way to make a visible difference right here in Madison.”

“Volunteers can meet at James Clemens High School to help clean up along Burgreen Road and Hardiman Road, or groups can adopt a stretch of roadway across the city and take pride in transforming it together,” Bartlett said.

The city will provide all supplies, including safety vests, ‘grabber’ tools and trash bags. “Clean Up Day is about community…taking pride in keeping Madison clean, welcoming and beautiful.”

To volunteer, visit signup. com/client/invitation2/secure/163673398088/false#/invitation. Or, visit madisonal.gov; in the “Latest News” section, click the box for the cleanup. On the window for the cleanup, click “Sign up here.”

MADISON POLICE

In recognition within Madison Police Department, Officer Ian Jones has earned certification as a Drug Recognition Expert or DRE. This highly specialized training enhances the city’s ability to maintain safe roadways.

Jones’ expertise allows officers to recognize drivers more effectively under the influence of drugs. His training confirms quicker, more accurate and professional enforcement, Bartlett said.

AMERICA 2025

This year, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence. The national tribute, named “America 250,” will involve constant observances.

Locally, the City of Madison will serve as an official Alabama Semiquincentennial City in connection with America 250. “There’s something for everyone as we celebrate the birth of a nation and the heart of a city that embodies its best values,” Bartlett said.

Madison officials have already scheduled celebratory events and will add more gatherings:

• “Children’s Parade: America’s Birthday Party” – On June 28, children will dress in patriotic costumes and as historical figures at Home Place Park.

• “America 250 Parade: One Nation, Many Stories” — This community parade will celebrate unity, history and the American spirit on July 2 along County Line Road. Registration will open soon, Bartlett said.

• Dublin fireworks show: “Let Freedom Ring – On July 3 at Dublin Park, the event will feature a patriotic video tribute, vendors, voter registration and fireworks show.

• Trash Pandas game – On July 4 at Toyota Field, “Celebrate Independence Day with baseball and a spectacular fireworks finale,” Bartlett said.

To officially kick off the Trash Pandas’ 2026 season, Bartlett threw the ceremonial first pitch on opening day. “Grab your tickets today!” she said. To buy tickets, visit milb. com/rocket-city, and click TICKETS & GROUPS.
