Kamrin Jenkins named Hitter of the Year and to Super All-State Baseball Team; Five from area make elite squads

MADISON – Playing in just 46 games in his only season of play in Madison, Kamrin Jenkins of Bob Jones has been named the Hitter of the Year and to the Super All-State baseball team by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. The still uncommitted, 2026 graduate of Bob Jones leads the five players from local teams who were so named to the All-State Teams.

In Class 7A, Jenkins was voted in as an infielder while his Bob Jones teammate and fellow senior Joshua Wilhide was selected as a Utility Player for the First-Team selection. Honorable Mention selections included Hayden Udovich, a James Clemens senior as an infielder and Braxton Williams as designated hitter from Sparkman High as a junior. In Class 5A, Madison Academy sophomore Grady Moore was selected as a designated hitter for the First-Team.

Ranked the No. 5 player in Alabama, Jenkins has entertained colleges such as Georgia Tech, Alabama and Vanderbilt as possible locations for him to land should he chose to play college baseball. In the meantime, without committing to any school, the 6-foot, 195-pound slugger is also looking forward to the July 11 Major League Baseball Draft as he’s projected to go somewhere possibly in rounds 5-10. He attended workouts for both the Texas Rangers and New York Mets held in Tuscaloosa and was given positive feedback from the pros on his talent.

“I feel if I go in round seven or higher, I will turn professional. If not, then I’ll look at my options for college,” said Jenkins after he found out his high school awards. “I was hoping I could make the All-State selections as I put up some good numbers this season. My power and being able to connect are great tools and I have good speed out of the box. As for making the elite Super All-State Team, I feel it’s a blessing to be among this elite group of players. My grandmother is the one who told me I made the squad as she’s all into my sport and would text me after each game.”

Jenkins started at Bob Jones in the school’s last semester moving to Madison from Illinois where he was ranked the No. 5 player in that state as well. He played shortstop and pitcher for Jared Smith, head coach of Bob Jones, who said of his star player, “Kam had an outstanding offensive year with 16 home runs to set the school record. Being named the 7A Hitter of the Year is a tremendous honor when you think of all of the good hitters in the state.”

This summer, Jenkins is playing in the Appy League, which has teams located through several states including Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee.

Wilhide was a prominent force for the Patriots in 2026 who finished 27-19 where they lost in the Class 7A quarterfinals of the state playoffs. He was named the team’s “Utility Player” of the year playing outfield, first base and pitcher. In 46 games, he batted .296 with 39 hits, 8 homers and 11 doubles on his way to 39 RBIs. On the mound, the 6-foot, 215-pound pitcher was 7-2 where he had a 2.12 ERA while throwing 76 strikeouts in 69 innings of work.

“We always knew that Joshua could pitch really well but he really improved as a hitter this season and was able to affect the game both ways, and to be named a “utility” player, you have to be well-rounded as a baseball player,” added Smith. “Super proud of both of these guys and glad that they received the recognition that they both deserved after incredible seasons at the highest level.”

“Grady had a tremendous season and was a huge part of our success as a young team,” said Madison Academy head coach David Pressley of his sophomore sensation who helped the Mustangs to a 25-14 record falling in the Class 5-A quarterfinals to Moody High.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Moore was the only returning starter for the Mustangs in 2026 as he played catcher, infield and pitcher for the horses. At the plate, he batted .372 with a .452 on-base percentage, with 17 doubles and one homer with 37 RBIs, and amazingly, struck out just six times in 121 plate appearances. He also threw 49 innings from the mound and posted a 6-2 record.

“I think he is one of the best catchers in the state, but we needed him in the infield and on the mound. He ended up playing six different positions and did an amazing job for us day-in and dayout,” said Pressley. “He competed to win daily and was willing to do anything asked of him. All-State is a well-deserved honor for him.”
