Madison Visionary Partners’ P.A.C.T. to equip students in need

MADISON – Madison City Schools’ 2026-2027 school year will start on Aug. 6, and many students will be excited for the day, arriving with stacks of crisp supplies in a new backpack and wearing stylish clothes and scufffree shoes.

But not everyone. Some children won’t have classroom materials or new outfits. Fortunately, Madison Visionary Partners or MVP started a hometown initiative, P.A.C.T. or Partnering for All Children in Town, to support students who have back-to-school needs.

In its seventh year, the annual PACT school-supply drive is a joint effort for MVP and MCS. Residents can participate by filling a backpack with the items listed on MCS’ school supply list. Buying a shirt, jeans or both also will help a child. Another option for donors is shoes.

To select a donation type, visit signupgenius.com/ go/10C0F49ACAF22ABF4C7064298974-support#/.

As of June 24, numerous options were available to assist MCS students:

• Backpack for girl, elementary school – Donors have signed up for nine of the 16 students who need a backpack.

• Backpack for boy, elementary school – Fill backpack with school supplies. 10 of 15 donated.

• Backpack for girl and boy, middle school – Donors have signed up for all 10 boys and 10 girls.

• Backpack for girl, high school – 7 of 10 donors.

• Backpack for boy, high school – 6 of 10 donors.

• Gift card — For a family to buy a child one back-to-school outfit and shoes from Target, Walmart, Kohl’s or a clothing store. 16 of 60 doors.

Donors should return a backpack, gift card or clothing/shoes with a label stating “Elementary,” “Middle” or “High” to Central Office, 211 Celtic Drive from July 27 through July 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MVP is a community, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by community and business leaders to spearhead projects and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Madison. The organization is apolitical and governed by a board of directors.
