4th Annual Shakespeare in the Garden returns to Huntsville Botanical Garden
HUNTSVILLE – Guests are invited to experience the magic of Shakespeare like never before—outdoors, at sundown, and surrounded by the natural beauty of Huntsville Botanical Garden. Shakespeare in the Garden returns for another summer of live theater under the stars starting Friday, July 24.
Performed by UAH’s “Huntsville Shakes,” this year’s rotating productions feature two beloved comedies: Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew. With minimalist staging and a fresh perspective, these timeless works come to life in an intimate open-air setting.
On July 24, August 1, and August 7 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.), witness the witty comedy Much Ado About Nothing in which misunderstandings, deception, and clever banter nearly ruin two romances before love, truth, and forgiveness ultimately prevail.
Performances of The Taming of the Shrew will be held on July 25, July 31, and August 8 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m. This comedy tells the tale of the outspoken Katherina and the determined Petruchio as they enter a turbulent courtship that explores love, power, gender roles, and social expectations through humor and conflict.
Tickets are $25 for Garden members, $35 for non-members, and can be purchased at hsvbg.org/calendar. There are no rain dates and no refunds for canceled performances. In case of weather cancellation by the venue, tickets may be rescheduled for a later performance if they are available, first come first served.
Set against the Garden’s lush backdrop, this enchanting event series invites guests to relax and enjoy live theatre. Enhance your visit with themed souvenirs, signature cocktails, and light bites from our on-site food trailer. Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited at the Garden.
Performances are rain or shine. Guests are encouraged to bring cushions or blankets for added comfort to sit on the Amphitheatre’s concrete steps. Lawn chairs are permitted but must be placed in the back row of the Amphitheatre or in the surrounding grassy areas to ensure clear sightlines for all guests.
