His mother remains in Huntsville Hospital recovering from injuries sustained from gun shot wounds to the head.
His daddy is dead and so is his younger sister.
For little Joey Ehrhardt, 8, life in the quiet, affluent subdivision of Walden in western Madison will never be the same. Madison police say Joey may have witnessed a terrible incident in his home over the weekend that has stunned the entire community.
On Monday morning, neighbors in Walden remained quiet and would not comment over what had happened across the street at the home of Raymond and Charlotte Ehrhardt of 207 Walden Glenn Road.
Flowers remain on the front porch that was left by neighbors.
Director of Investigations Lee Weaver said police believe that Raymond, 44, shot and seriously wounded Charlotte – named Lee Ann by friends and family, and fatally wounded their 2-year-old daughter, Sissy, in the home around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, before turning the gun on himself.
An investigation into the shooting continues.
Joey was not injured in the incident and was found next to his daddy when police arrived at the scene. According to Weaver, Raymond called 911 shortly before 10:30 p.m. stating that there had been an intruder in the home and that the intruder shot his wife and daughter.
Weaver said that statement is not true. She said Lee Ann was able to tell officers on the scene what actually happened.
"We believe this is a domestic incident and there are personal issues involved," Weaver said.
Family members of Lee Ann Ehrhardt asked Huntsville Hospital officials to not release any information on her condition at this time. She is an employee at Qualitest Pharmaceuticals. Family members also asked that the principal at Country Day School in Madison, where Joey and Sissy attended, not to release any information as to what the school was going to do for the family.
The Ehrhardt's moved into the Walden subdivision last March from eastern Madison County.
Raymond Ehrhardt was in construction.
