Musical production coming to Discovery

A group of rats are down on their luck.
They feel like nobody likes them and their self-esteem is low.
Then, Snortel the rat comes in and begins to make the group feel better about by lifting their spirits. To make humans believe that rats are good and that humans can like them, they decide to create a musical to change their minds.
Thursday night, Discovery Middle School's first musical production of the "Rat Race" will be held at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Horizon Elementary School.
This is the first musical production ever for Discovery. Madison residents Mike and Gianna Gimenez, who are also members of the Madison Community Chorus, have been working with the group of 30 young, talented actors to produce the mini-musical.
"This is a feel good about yourself, positive, and fun musical," Gianna Gimenez said. "There is a lot of talent in these young people and they are really looking forward to their performance on Thursday."
The lead rats in the musical are Josh Cobb, who plays Nigel; Brad Nash who plays Snortel; Adam Gimenez who plays Cagney; Sara Ondocsin who plays Bopalopa; Jessye Gessner who plays Semolina; Andrew Melton who plays Oscar; Lauren Hoffman who plays Patty; and Alex Jordan who plays Fellyside.
Admission to the musical is free, but donations will be accepted.
Gimenez, whose son Adam is in the musical, said working with the students is part of the school's enrichment activity program.
"The Madison Community Chorus works with students all the time and it's been great to pull hidden talent out of these kids," Gimenez said. "We think the audience will be pleased with the production and we look forward to working with the students again in the future."
