Madison man writes self-help book

Do you need a little friendly advice in the world of business?
Madison resident Charles Farrior has written a book aimed at helping people in choosing ways to succeed in their career or business.
According to Farrior, what's unique about the book, entitled Simple Business For People Simply Out Of Time, is the fact that the book's seven chapters contains only 77 pages. Farrior said the goal in writing the book was to make it as simple as possible to read and understand and make it as short as possible for people who are on the go.
"You can go into any bookstore and see numerous books written about business and ways to improve yourself in the business world. Those books are fine. Don't get me wrong. However, most people don't have a lot of time to sit down and read a big book. At least I don't. So, I decided to write a book that would be simple to read, simple to understand, and one that could be read in a short amount of time."
Farrior said his business background and life's experiences, has given him the opportunity to witness and experience how a wide variety of how individuals, as well as totally different types of businesses, operate. Farrior is a certified professional contracts manager. He has been a Mississippi Quality Award Malcolm Baldrige Examiner and has been a management consultant. He has had two articles published in Contact Management, the professional publication of the National Contract Management Association. Farrior earned an undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and his MBA from Mississippi College. He also has more than 20 years experience in the business and contracting field.
"Inside the book, there are simple principals such as assessing what is really important to you, determining how to make your organization see you as an asset, finding out who you really work for, as well as understanding that you have the ability to determine your outcome," Warrior said. "The information is presented in a compact, hard hitting format that is quick and easy to use."
Warrior said a significant portion of the proceeds from the book would go to the Boomer Season Foundation and the Mississippi State University Hunter Henry Alumni Foundation Center. The Boomer Season Foundation is a partnership of leaders in the medical and business communities that provide financial support to research aimed at finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
"The foundation works to heighten education and awareness of cystic fibrosis and to provide a better quality of life for those affected by it," Farrior said.
Farrior and his family moved to Madison last fall and are becoming active members of the community.
