Bob Jones receiver commits to Ole Miss

Bob Jones receiver Collins Moore has committed to Ole Miss, the senior announced Aug. 8.

Moore chose the Rebels over LSU and Kentucky.

Moore, 6’2 and 185 pounds, also plays defensive back and returns kicks. Rivals.com rates Moore as a three-star prospect, while also ranking him as the No. 43 wide receiver in the nation.

“Collin just makes plays,” Bob Jones head coach Kevin Rose said. “He’s got great ball skills and he has a special knack for coming down with the football in special situations.”

Moore helped lead the Patriots to an 11-2 record in 2009, the best record in school history.

He finished with 50 catches for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown pass in every game but one — the Decatur game.

While Moore didn’t have a touchdown reception versus Decatur, he picked off a pass in final minutes of the game and hauled in a 30-yard pass with seconds to go to set up the Patriots’ game-winning field goal.

Rose said Moore’s decision was a good fit because Oxford, Miss., is close in proximity, they play in the Southeastern Conference and head coach Houston Nutt is a top-notch coach.

Rose also said the timing of Moore’s announcement shows his commitment to both Bob Jones and Ole Miss.

“He wanted to get it out of the way, relax and play,” Rose said. “He wanted to get the focus off him and onto the team.”
