BJHS game won’t be televised in Madison

Bob Jones on TV

The Bob Jones vs. North Gwinnett game will not be televised in Madison.

A select few people will be able to watch Bob Jones’ football game at North Gwinnet High School Saturday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m.

They’ll be at the game.

Those who cannot travel to North Gwinnett will not have the luxury of watching the regionally televised game on CSS, as the network is currently only offered on Comcast and Charter cable systems.

CSS is currently not available through Knology or satellite systems.

Knology Huntsville/Madison General Manager Jerry Strasser said a contract has been signed with CSS to broadcast the channel in Madison and Huntsville, but the station will not hit the airwaves until Sept. 4.

“I tried to call our engineering company to get it done by (Aug. 28), but it’s not going to happen,” Strasser said.

Strasser said engineers are working feverishly just to get the system in place by Sept. 4.

Strasser said he met with Madison Mayor Paul Finley Wednesday morning about the issue, but there is just nothing that can be done to ensure Madison residents can view the game.

“I wish we could get it. That would be great,” Strasser said. “We just couldn’t make it happen.”

The games will be broadcast on CSS in areas with Comcast or Charter, such as the Birmingham market.
