Peter Roy Ferrante; Oct. 28, 2010

Peter Roy Ferrante, 64, of Decatur died Oct. 28 at Decatur General Hospital. Pete was born in raised in Detroit, MI and relocated to Alabama in 1985. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Josephine Ferrante.

He is survived by his son, Roy Ferrante and wife Susan of Madison, AL; two daughters, Lucille Ferrante Wissinger and husband Bruce of Baltimore, MD, and Renee Ferrante Dobbs and husband Chuck of Madison, AL; and seven grandchildren, Aaron Ferrante, Anthony Ferrante, Graham Wissinger, Josie Wissinger, Abby Dobbs, Joseph Dobbs, and Peter Dobbs. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Marie Campis of Madison, AL and a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pete earned an Associate’s Degree from Central Michigan University and enjoyed a successful 23 year career as an excecutive at Chrysler Corporation.

After his tenure at Chrysler, Pete aquired JIT Services, Inc. serving as president and CEO. Under his direction, JIT expanded, and is now operating in 7 locations throughout North America. He was receipient of the 2002 Executive of the Year Award and became an honorary business professor at UAH.

Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville is assisting the family. Visitation was held from 11-1 p.m. on Nov. 2 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Madison with a funeral mass from 1-2 p.m. with Father Phil O’Kennedy officiating. Following mass, there was a celebration at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur from 3-7 p.m. to honor and remember this remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to St. John’s Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758.
