Art to be displayed at Barnes & Noble

Second Grader Haley Seaton’s "Bed Bats, & Beyond" and fifth grader Nicole Ricketts’ "Dear Dumb Diary, Never Do Anything, Ever," will be among the 25 pieces of art displayed at Barnes & Noble.

Parents of students at Madison Elementary have something to be proud of.

The artwork of 25 students will be displayed in the window at Barnes & Noble at Bridge Street Town Centre in Huntsville, from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5.

The artwork ranges from Impressionistic to stylized to book posters. Students recreated the front cover of some of their favorite books.

Media Specialist Debbie Cox said students were also inspired by themes they learned in school.

“We like to promote a marriage of ins and creating at Madison, and facilitating this is the students taking work and interpreting that in their art,” Cox said.

The school will also have an in-store book fair at the bookstore.  Madison Elementary will receive a portion of sales if customers mention the school at any Barnes & Noble around the nation or online.

“The library has zero funding, so this is very important for us,” Cox said. “This way, we can put books in students’ hands to support their pleasure and instructional needs.”
