Huntsville symphony orchestra board of trustees receive check for $270,918.39

The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra board of trustees received good news in the form of a big check, Friday, Dec. 7.

The $270,918.39 check was presented to the board by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild. The check consisted of proceeds from the Guild’s two biggest fundraisers, the Symphony Ball, held each fall, and the Crescen-Dough Auction, held every April.

The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild (HSOG) is the largest single donor to the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.

The HSOG provides financial and volunteer support annually to the Symphony and its educational programs. The Young Artists Auditions in January and the Young Peoples Concert Series in February for area fourth graders are just two areas of Guild involvement that benefit music education.

The Guild celebrated its 50th anniversary in September with the commissioning of an original composition, played by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.  In December the Guild hosted a successful Silver Tea to benefit the Huntsville Youth Orchestra.
