Barbara Rekuc; June 1, 2011

Barbara Olszewski Rekuc, 78, of Madison passed away on Wednesday, June 1 in Huntsville.

Mrs. Rekuc was born in Poland in 1932 and immigrated to the United States at the age of 16, subsequently living in Michigan, Missouri, Connecticut, New York and Florida before moving to Madison.

She was long active in the Catholic Church, Polish-American Club and American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stephen Rekuc.

She is survived by four children, Walter, Greg and Cliff Rekuc and Barbara Booth; her two brothers, John and Ted Olszewski; and six grandchildren, Caroline, Brian, Abby, Alyssa, Nathan and Lindsey.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 3 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison.
