Have a blast for Independence Day

Stars and Stripes Forever will take place at Dublin Park July 4.

Stars and Stripes Forever, Madison’s annual Fourth of July celebration, will kick off at Dublin Park at 2 p.m. with various activities.

Inflatable activities will be lined up all around Soccer Field No. 1. No admission will be charged, and activities will be free.

“The only fees will be if they purchase food from our food vendors,” explained Gayle Milam, event and volunteer coordinator for Parks & Recreation.

Some of the snacks that will be available include funnel cakes, fried Snickers, hot dogs and smoothies, among many other choices.

Children and adults can enjoy sliding down the giant sabretooth tiger slide or explore through the 70 ft. obstacle course. There will also be a 62 ft. water slide. A tent will even be set up to provide shade.

As there will be limited parking at Dublin Park, Milam encouraged to park at Bob Jones High School. There will be three buses running to pick people up. The bus services will begin at 6 p.m., and the last pickup will be at 8 p.m.

The fireworks are scheduled to begin at about 8:45 p.m.

The band Packsand will be performing throughout the evening. That’s just one of the things Milam said will set this event apart from the one in Huntsville.

“We’re going to have a live band,” Milam said. “We have an amazing display that’s going to last 22 minutes.”

For additional information, call Dublin Park at (256) 772-9300.
