Holley brings book tour to library on Nov. 1

BY GREGG L. PARKER

C.L. Holley’s book tour will visit Madison Public Library on Nov. 1. He is shown with his wife Cassandra Holley and daughter Kiana Holley.

A Madison author is bringing his book tour to Madison Public Library to share his family’s struggle and perseverance after the death of their son.

C.L. ‘Charlie’ Holley wrote “An Hour of Inspiration” after his teenage son Torrell died from cardiac arrest while playing basketball at Liberty Middle School in 2001.

An autopsy found a rare heart condition, unknown to the family. While dealing with depression, hopelessness and despair, the Holleys found a personal love for Jesus Christ, he said.

Holley’s book tour will stop at the library on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. He will tell his personal testimony about the struggles and trials the family faced after Torrell’s death. “I will share keys to overcoming depression, facing holidays and ‘dos and don’ts’ of comforting others,” he said.

The Holley family recently observed the tenth anniversary of Torrell’s death.

“We visited the cemetery and cleaned up his gravesite. We held hands at his grave and remembered Torrell,” Holley said.

Charlie and Cassandra Holley have been married for 23 years. Their daughter Kiana is a 2001 graduate of Bob Jones High School and now is a freshman at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Four years after Torrell’s death, the Holleys founded CL Holley Ministries, a 501(c)3 Christian ministry that offers encouragement to people during difficult times.

Holley earned a bachelor’s degree in administrative science at UAH and a master’s degree in biblical counseling from Heritage Bible College. He serves as an associate minister at Union Chapel MB Church in Huntsville and is a writer for “Speaking Out News.”

His books include “Forgiveness — Walk Me Through It,” “Whispers from My Father,” “Daily Inspirations from the Scriptures” and “The God of My Midnights.” Holley’s books will be sold for $10 each during his session at Madison Public Library.
