St. John gala scheduled for Feb.

The theme 13th annual Benefit Gala is Mardi Gras. The gala will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 in the North Hall at the Von Braun Center.

Throw on your masquerade mask and make your way to the Von Braun Center for St. John The Baptist Catholic School’s annual fundraiser.

The theme of the 13th annual Benefit Gala is Mardi Gras. The gala will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 in the North Hall at the Von Braun Center.

Event co-chairs Amy Underwood and Belinda Arnold are from Mobile and New Orleans, respectively.

Arnold said that is what served as inspiration for the gala’s theme.

“We were very comfortable with it, so we decided to pursue that concept” Arnold said.

The gala is the only fundraiser the school holds. Last year’s event, An Evening in Oz, garnered $60,000 for the school.

“We are really trying to bring more of the community to the event,” Arnold said. “The money benefits each child at the school and several programs, so it’s a very important fundraiser for us.”

The money would also be used to purchase more SMART Boards for classrooms and help fund the athlete program.

Public Relations Lead Tania Yee said attendees can purchase individual tickets this year, as opposed to last year, when tickets were sold in pairs.

Tickets are $60 per person and you must be 21 and older to attend.

Dinner and complimentary beer and wine are included.

There will also be a silent and live auction, as well as a raffle for $10,000 at $50 per raffle ticket.

Raffle tickets are available to those who cannot attend the event at www.BenefitGala.info.
