Busy sports night at Bob Jones

Madison- It will be a busy night at Bob Jones on Tuesday as the Patriot’s softball and girl’s soccer teams host critical area and section contests.  There is also a big baseball doubleheader between Sparkman and Bob Jones.

The girl’s soccer teams hosts Florence in a Section 8 game at 6:15 at Madison City Schools Stadium. With a 5-2 section record the Lady Patriots have another critical game Thursday night at Huntsville. Huntsville and Grissom sit on top in Section 8 but Bob Jones is poised to move into one of the spots if they can win against Florence and at Huntsville.

Over at Bob Jones a big crowd is expected for the baseball doubleheader between Bob Jones and Sparkman. The first game will start at 4:30. These are not area games and will count only for overall record and of course bragging rights. The two teams may well meet in the first round of the playoffs.

Bob Jones has already won Area 15 and will play the runner up in Area 16 on April 20-21. Sparkman or Hazel Green will be the runner up in Area 16. That race is going to come down to a tie breaker rule and must be determined by April 16 according to the AHSAA guidelines.

Also at 4:30 the Lady Patriots softball team will host a key Area 15 game against Florence. This will be the first game between the two teams this season. Bob Jones travels to Florence on April 24. Bob Jones sits on top in Area 15 play so far with 2 wins over Decatur and one over Austin.
