Playoff time for both Bob Jones soccer teams

Madison-  It is playoff time in high school soccer across the state and both the girls and boys teams at Bob Jones begin what they hope will be long playoff runs with games this weekend.

The girl’s team finished an impressive season seeded third in Section 8 and will be on the road at Pell City for a single elimination game on Saturday at 1:30. The boy’s team finished second in Section 8 and will host Shades Valley Saturday at 4 p.m. at Madison City Schools Stadium.

The girl’s team will need Sophomore Hannah Snoddy to continue her stellar play. She leads the team in goals and points and had one game where she scored 5 goals.

The team finished the season with a 7-4 loss to Oak Mountain but Coach Patrick Jacklin said the team is ready for the playoffs and is going through a normal game week of practice.

“Nothing is really changed. We’re still working hard. We know we’ve got to play our best game to win some of these playoff games,” said Jacklin. “We don’t really know much about Pell City other than they have lost only 2 games all season. I don’t think they have played many top 10 teams.”

“We’re pretty confident but we don’t want to get overconfident,” Jacklin said.

Bob Jones split with #4 in the state Grissom and played #1 Huntsville to overtime in a late season game. Bob Jones stayed in the poll at #9 most of the season. Pell City was not ranked.

Bob Jones boys finished the season ranked #3 in the state.

Spain Park is the defending state champion on the girl’s side and Oak Mountain is the defending state champion on the boy’s side.
