James Clemens principal a candidate for superintendent in Georgia

Dr. John Green, principal of Madison’s new James Clemens High School, is one of two finalists for superintendent of Jackson County Schools in Georgia. The other finalist is Dale Gaddis, area assistant superintendent of Cobb County Schools.

Confirmed by Jackson school board president Lynne Wheeler, the final decision won’t be made for at least two weeks. She said the board hopes to fill the position by July 1.

“We are looking at our information and deciding which would be the best fit for our school system,” Wheeler said. “Both [candidates] were great interviews.”

Green and Gaddis beat out 44 other applicants for top two.

 

Mr. Dale Gaddis

Mr. Gaddis is Area Assistant Superintendent of the Cobb County, Georgia schools.  He has previously served as Assistant Superintendent of School improvement (6-12 Education), Assistant Superintendent of School Improvement (High School Education) Executive Director of Educational Leadership, and Executive Director of High School Operations, each in Cobb County.  Also in Cobb County, he served as Principal of North Cobb High, Assistant/Associate Principal of Wheeler High, Administrative Assistant of North Cobb High, and as teacher of Social Studies, North Cobb High.  In addition, he has participated in a wide variety of professional development programs.

Mr. Gaddis has an Educational Specialist Degree and a Masters Degree in K-12 Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kennesaw State University in Secondary Education.  He has taken post-graduate courses in K-12 Educational Administration at the University of Alabama.

He has been active in numerous professional, community and volunteer organizations.  He and his family maintain a home in Cobb County.

Dr. Green is principal of James Clemens High School, Madison, Alabama.  He has previously served as Area Superintendent in the Gwinnett County (GA) Schools, Principal of North Gwinnett High, Associate Principal of Brookwood High, Assistant Principal of Berkmar High, and teacher and coach at Meadowcreek High, all in Gwinnett County.  He also taught and coached at Tucker High School in DeKalb County.

Dr. Green has a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Georgia, a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education from Georgia State University and a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.  In addition, he is a graduate of the Superintendent Professional Development Program conducted by the Georgia School Superintendents Association and a finalist for the 2011 Broad Superintendents Academy.

He has been active in numerous professional, community and volunteer organizations.  He and his family maintain a home in Gwinnett County.
