Summer day programs offered in Madison City Schools

The Madison City Schools district is offering summer day programs for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

The summer program will provide “an exciting and enriching summer program in a safe and pleasant environment,” according to a district-wide NotifyMe email announcement. Elementary students already enrolled in extended day programs will receive priority for the summer sessions.

Columbia and West Madison elementary schools will host the programs this year. Summer day sessions run from May 29 until July 25. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A late fee at $1 per minute will apply for each minute after 6 p.m. The program will be closed on July 4.

A non-refundable registration and activity fee is $150 per child, which covers cost for field trips. Weekly tuition for one child is $110 or daily at $33. For two children, the cost is $180 weekly or $44 daily. For three children, the fee is $240 weekly or $56 daily.

Registration packets are available from extended day personnel at Madison’s elementary schools. Also, families can register at Columbia by visiting ces.madisoncity.k12.al.us or at West Madison at wmes.madisoncity.k12.al.us.

In addition, Madison City Schools will host a summer chess camp on June 4-6 at Rainbow Elementary School. Instruction will be tailored to the level of player. First-time players are welcome and instruction also will be offered for beginner to intermediate level players. Registration fee is $75.
