Chamber sessions to explore QuickBooks, accounting tips

Bob ‘QB Bob’ Crooks will present “Business Accounting 101” and “Intro to QuickBooks(tm),” upcoming seminars for professional development sponsored by the Madison Chamber of Commerce.

Both sessions run from 8 a.m. to noon at Country Inn & Suites, 101 Westchester Drive in Madison.

On June 12, Accounting 101 will overview basic bookkeeping and accounting principles, with explanations of terminology, business financial statements, double entry accounting, income statements, balance sheets and journal entries.

“This session is designed to teach essential tools of fundamental accounting principles and how to apply them to daily business practices,” Crook said.

On July 17, the QuickBooks session will offer tools to use QuickBooks(tm) Pro for basic bookkeeping tasks. Crook will offer advice about installation and setup of QuickBooks software and use his expertise to teach tips and tricks on using the software.

Crook will discuss tasks, such as paying bills, printing checks, managing revenue, tracking expenses, creating invoices, running reports and reconciling accounts.

“One of the most common oversights with QuickBooks for many users and even accounting firms is that they do not understand or use the ‘Undeposited Funds’ account properly,” Crook said.

With more 25 years of experience in accounting systems, Crook has been a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor since 1999 and certified for QuickBooks(r) Point of Sale since 2003. He has earned Intuit’s advanced certification and is an Intuit premier reseller and Sleeter certified consultant.

His Huntsville-based company, Small Business Solutions LLC, serves as North Alabama’s premier QuickBooks(r) consulting firm. Crook and his consultants offer on-site setup, training, instruction and ongoing maintenance for small to mid-sized businesses.

For information about Small Business Solutions LLC, call 256-337-5200, send email to info@qbbob.com or visit QBBob.com, Facebook/QBBob or Twitter/QB_Bob.

The fee for each chamber session is $15 for chamber members and $25 for others.
