Police investigate animal cruelty

Criminal charges are pending until all the animals are accounted for.

Madison Police are conducting an animal cruelty investigation in the city.

Police responded to an anonymous complaint at 7:20 this morning about an offensive odor.

Police arrived to the house, located at 815 Crestview Drive, off Old Madison Pike, to find “numerous dogs inside the residence in poor living conditions.”

Officers said some were already dead.

Criminal charges are pending until all the animals are accounted for. Madison City Animal Control as well as Huntsville Animal Services, The Madison Animal Rescue Foundation, and The ARK are working together with local vets to try and save as many of the dogs as possible.

UPDATE:

Police are saying 85 dogs were removed from the residence today. They said some dogs had to be euthanized due to disease and poor health conditions.

Individuals wishing to help with donations or adopt a rescued dog can contact the Madison Animal Rescue Foundation through Madisonarf.org or (256) 658-8607. Adoptions can also be made through Whitworth Animal Clinic at 106 Rainbow Dr. in Madison, (256) 830-1503.
