“From Country to Broadway” will be performed at Madison United Methodist Church on July 22 at 2 p.m.

“The show will be an afternoon of Broadway tunes from the 1930s to now,” said Jeanne Steadman, the publicist for the church. It is presented by the United Methodist Women, a group at the church.

“The show stars Leah Lucker and Kristy White featuring Kirk Durbin at the piano,” said Steadman.

“Kristy is a songwriter, actress and vocalist. She lives in Birmingham, and released an album ‘Dancin’ on the Wind’ in 2010.” Lucker has appeared on Fox 6 and ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Ala.

“Leah is stage & production manager with Birmingham Children’s Theater,” said Steadman. “She is a published playwright.”

Durbin is the pianist at Madison United Methodist Church. He also is a piano instructor at AB Stephens, plays with the University of Alabama in Huntsville choir and gives private lessons, according to Coleen Glover, President of United Methodist Women.

A reception will follow the performance. Glover said light refreshments will be served, including drinks and cookies, so people can “meet and greet the artists.

Glover said the proceeds of “From Country to Broadway” will go toward mission work in Alabama, including Camp Sumatanga, the Methodist Girls Home, the Methodist Boys Home and disaster relief.

Tickets are free for children 12 years old and under, $4 for children 13 years old and up, and $8 for adults. Madison United Methodist Church is located at 127 Church Street in Madison. For more information, call the church at 256-772-9716.
