Mitchell Industrial Contractors celebrates 10 years

Mitchell Industrial Contractors (MIC), 188 Westchester Drive recently celebrated its tenth anniversary.

MIC is a general contractor that provides construction and facilities maintenance services, HVAC, electrical, piping, plumbing, metal fabrication, welding, design/build services, janitorial and grounds maintenance.

MIC’s slogan, “Maintain Peace of Mind,” shows its commitment to customers. “Selecting the right team for each project and performing to the scope of work” are keys to the company’s success, President/CEO Alan Mitchell said.

Mitchell founded the company in 2002 with only six employees and focused on work as a general contractor and facilities maintenance company for the private sector. “Going into our tenth year of business, we now have over 100 employees operating in multiple states,” Mitchell said.

After the first year, MIC branched out with projects for the federal government. Their first major federal contract was with NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center on Redstone Arsenal. The next big breakthrough with the federal government was work for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

“Over the next few years, MIC was awarded facilities maintenance contracts at Toyota, Wise Alloys, United Launch Alliance and most recently The Boeing Company,” Mitchell said. In addition, MIC has been awarded several Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts with the federal government.

Factors that cause clients to choose MIC are its cost-effectiveness, coupled with safe, quality and timely work, Mitchell said.

MIC received the Humanitarian Award from the Alabama Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center. MIC was recognized for tornado recovery efforts in Alabama and support of missions in Guatemala.

The company was named 2009 “Business of the Year” by the South Regions Minority Supplier Development Council, 2010 “Minority Business Firm of the Year” by MBOC, 2010 “Excellence in Safety Award” by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and 2011 “Minority Construction Firm of the Year” by MBDA.

Work hours at MIC are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 256-772-5554 or visit mitchellindustrialcontractors.com.
