Columbia, Heritage, West Madison schedule Curriculum Night

Soon after school starts, all elementary schools in the Madison district will start a new session, “Curriculum Night.”

The informational meetings are intended for parents only. Teachers will discuss course study and expectations for the grade level.

Columbia Elementary School will have curriculum nights on Aug. 27 for first grade from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and fourth grade from 6 to 6:30 p.m. On Aug. 28, parents of second-grade students can attend from 5 to 5:30 p .m., followed by fifth-grade parents from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

The Columbia sessions will continue on Aug. 30 when parents of third-graders can visit from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and sixth-grade parents from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

At Heritage Elementary School, teachers will discuss this school year’s events and activities. Parents of first grade students will report on Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. to the cafeteria and dismiss to homeroom classes at 5:30 p.m.

Heritage second-grade parents will meet in homeroom classes on Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.; third grade, Aug. 28, 5 p.m., homerooms; fourth grade, Aug. 30, cafeteria at 5:30 p.m., classrooms at 6 p.m.; fifth grade, Aug. 27, cafeteria at 5:30 p.m., classrooms at 6 p.m.; and sixth grade, Aug. 28, cafeteria at 5:30 p.m. and classrooms at 6 p.m.

Dr. Daphne Jah, principal at West Madison Elementary School, said she is excited about curriculum nights. “I really encourage parents to attend these grade-level nights. West Madison teachers will present procedures and pertinent information about the curriculum for each grade level.”

“Please make plans to attend these important meetings,” Jah said. “This is also a time for you to ask questions.”

Parents of West Madison kindergartners can attend on Aug. 27 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the library; first grade, Aug. 28, 5 to 6 p.m., library; second grade, Aug. 28, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., gym; fifth grade, Aug. 30, 5 to 6 p.m., library; fourth grade, Aug. 30, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., gym; third grade, Sept. 6, 5 to 6 p.m., library; and sixth grade, Sept. 6, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., gym.
