Dr. Ernest Everett Stroud Moyers, II; August 1, 2012

Dr. Ernest Everett Stroud Moyers, II, 78, of Madison passed away peacefully on August 1, 2012 at Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville.

Dr. Moyers was born September 4, 1933 in Gadsden to Lena Mae and Ernest Everett Stroud Moyers, Sr.

Dr. Moyers was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Barbara Waters and a brother Donald Moyers.

Dr. Moyers was an ordained minister of the gospel and served as a pastor of several churches over the past 50 years. He was also a retired research scientist from Delta Research and a retired professor from Alabama A & M. Dr. Moyers was a member of the Skyline Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Violet Moyers; two daughters Mary Naysa Withem (Michael), of Ranson, W.V. and Nora Elaine Hester (Ricky) of Clarksville, Tenn.; four sons Ernest E. Moyers, III (Janet), Dr. Karl H. Moyers (Marcia) of Lake Wylie, S.C., Barton V. Moyers (Fiona) of Durham, N.C. and Troy W. Moyers (Cristi) of Madison; two sisters Shelia C. Irby (John) of Huntsville, and Rita Gross of Glencoe; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday, Aug. 3 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral was at the Madison Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.
